Progress Update

·Biweekly IT project meeting 6/24/09.
·The cabling contractor is working to install additional data jacks in the MAC room.
·Power to the desks in the MAC lab in being worked on by vendor.
·The tickets.com PC was relocated from RV Theater to TP/SS Performing Art Center for tickets sales. Testing and connectivity is in process.
·Monitor the tickets.com tasked by other IT groups.
· The piano lab has added a core drill for the cabling to be run from each piano keyboard back to a main control device in the lab. The cabling has been scheduled to be run within the next two weeks.
·Project is still on schedule to open in the Fall 09 semester.

Project Overview

The Cultural Art Center (CAC) is the third building to be constructed by Montgomery College as part of the Takoma Park Campus expansion. It will be located on the west campus just north of the Health Sciences Center. The Cultural Art Center will be bounded on the north by Burlington Avenue, on the west by Georgia Avenue, on the east by the Cafritz Foundation Art Center, a future parking structure and the CSX railroad tracks, and on the south by the Health Sciences Center. The façade of the Cultural Art Center will create a new focal point for the Campus as one approaches the building from both the north and south. Future site development will create a central plaza atmosphere at the front of the building servicing all of the Takoma Park West Campus structures. The building will house the following:

Full performance theatre stage
Ticket and reception areas
Costume, scenery & support workshops
Faculty and staff offices
Advanced film editing lab
General purpose classrooms Practice & teaching stage
